What is the difference between Hanafi Asr and Shafi'i Asr time?
The Shafi'i (and majority) school sets Asr when the shadow of an object equals the object's own length plus the noon shadow. Why is Asr particularly emphasized in the Qur'an?
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:238 says: "Guard strictly your prayers, especially the middle prayer." Many scholars identify this verse as referring to Asr, which falls in the middle of the working day when distractions are highest and missing the prayer is easiest.

Many scholars hold that the final hour of Friday — the hour before Maghrib at 18:40 in Madīnat an Naşr — contains a moment in which dua (supplication) is particularly accepted, as taught in a well-known hadith. Praying Asr at 16:07 and remaining in dhikr until sunset is a recommended Friday practice.
How many rakat is Asr prayer?
